“Fe’m carodd fel y câr yr haul y ddaear:
Bedyddiodd fi â gwres ei fynwes hawddgar;
Fe’i cerais ef fel câr y lloer yr aig
I’w yrru a’i guro’n greulon ar y graig."

Although influential as a politician, educator and social reformer, Robert Silyn Roberts (1871-1930) was also a capable poet and at the height of his popularity was one of Wales's most famous poets.

Having studied under John Morris-Jones, he was a part of the early 20th-century Romantic 'renaissance' in Welsh poetry. Love is the main subject of his poetry, including the most famous of his poems, the pryddest 'Trystan ac Esyllt' for which he was awarded the Crown at the National Eisteddfod in 1902, beating his friend W. J. Gruffydd.

This new collection of his poetry includes the vast majority of the poems Silyn published, including all those in the volumes Telynegion and Trystan ac Esyllt a Chaniadau Eraill, as well as many later poems dating to the First World War and afterwards.

Paperback, 156pp.
