“Ond eto un gair. A ydyw y telerau hyn yr wyt ti er dy anrhydedd, Syr Frenin, yn caniatáu i ni, yn gyfyngedig i ni ein chwech, neu ynte, a awdurdodir ni i’w cludo ar flaenau ein gwaywffyn, yn ôl i’n gwersyll, ac yno i’w cyhoeddi yng wyneb haul, llygad goleuni, i bob Cymro yn ddieithriaid?”

“Gydag ond un eithriad,” ebe’r brenin.

“A’r un hwnnw?” gofynnai y Marchog.

“GLYNDŴR!” oedd yr ateb...

The Berwyn mountains, 1400. The fiendish knight Sir Philip Marglee has been sent by his master, de Grey, to take posession of a piece of his land belonging to his neighbour. Little does anyone suspect that this skirmish will turn into a rebellion that engulfs the whole country.

Beriah Gwynfe Evans (1848-1927) was one of the most productive literary figures of his age in Wales. He wrote a number of novels in Welsh and English, many of which portray events and periods in Welsh history in a deliberate attempt to produce a Welsh version of the Scottish historical novels of Walter Scott. Bronwen, subtitled 'a historical legend of Owain Glyndŵr', was his first novel and exists in both Welsh and English versions; this is the Welsh version.

Paperback, 316pp.
